The two women are depicted in traditional Japanese dress, with elaborate hairstyles and richly colored kimonos.The portraits are delicately executed, with particularly fine attention to the facial features and subtle shading.
One plate is signed “L. Malpass”.
The reverse bears the handwritten inscription:
