Riding the massive commercial wave of Wendy Carlos\' groundbreaking 1968 album Switched-On Bach, Columbia Masterworks producers Andrew Kazdin and Thomas Z. Shepard conceived The Mighty Moog project as a lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek classical synthesizer record. The album\'s cheeky title was a play on Woody Allen\'s popular 1969 book/film Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex.

Equipped with a Modular Moog synthesizer, Kazdin and Shepard meticulously programmed, multi-tracked, and \"semi-conducted\" vibrant electronic interpretations of famous Spanish and French classical showpieces. Side Two is anchored by a sprawling, 14-minute synthesizer realization of Maurice Ravel\'s \"Boléro\".
