A statement piece for a folk art or antique collector. This large hand-carved tramp art frame is made of layered, chip-carved notched wood, with carved rosettes at each corner and milk glass buttons in brass beaded settings. It's a true folk art piece, probably early 20th century (circa 1890-1930), and each strip carries its own carving.
The frame holds an original vintage print titled "The Last Load," showing haymakers loading a horse-drawn wagon beneath a stand of trees. The print is dated 1909 and credited "Alex. Young." It's marked "Copyright C.W. Faulkner & Co. Ltd., London, E.C." The signature and date are printed, so it's a publisher's reproduction, not a hand-signed original.
Size: 30" x 23" overall.
Condition: Good antique condition with honest age. The print is toned, the old paper backing is torn and peeling, and there are a few small nicks and cracks at the frame tips. The frame is sturdy, glass is in place, and a wire with a ring is attached for hanging. Please see all photos.
