This is a large lot of genuine 1984 Los Angeles Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad commemorative transit fare tokens issued by the Southern California Rapid Transit District (SCRTD / RTD).
These brass (gold-toned) tokens were created in cooperation with the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee for use as bus fare (50¢ face value) during the 1984 Olympic year. They were also sold as collectibles. Designed by noted numismatic artist N. Neil Harris, each is approximately 32 mm (1¼\") in diameter with a reeded edge.
Details from the photos:
One side shows dynamic sport illustrations with the sport name and “1984” (examples visible include Tennis, Volleyball, Shooting, Judo, Cycling, Swimming, Canoeing, Fencing, Archery, Soccer, Gymnastics, Wrestling, Field Hockey, Team Handball, Rowing, Yachting, Boxing, and others).
The reverse features the official star-and-Olympic-rings logo, the text “Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad Los Angeles 1984,” and “• SCRTD FARE •.”
Tokens range from bright and attractive to ones with light toning, spotting, or minor wear consistent with age and circulation.
These are official 1984 Olympic-related transportation tokens (not U.S. Mint commemorative coins). A complete set consists of 23 sports designs plus one “Universal Spirit”/Coliseum token (24 total). This appears to be a substantial mixed lot with multiples of various designs (exact count and completeness best confirmed by buyer from photos).
Condition notes: Most show typical brass toning or light wear; a few appear brighter. Please review all photos carefully as they represent the actual items. Sold as-is, no returns preferred (or per your policy). Great for Olympic memorabilia, transit token, or 1980s collectibles collectors.
