these are old vintage rare posters made 50 plus years ago, no recent reprints.
This Levi / Levis / Levi's jeans advertisement was deemed too risky for the US market and was never used.
Supposedly in 1971 onlya few runs of them were printed by a San Jose printer who printed many ads for Levi's.
Levi's had used this same poster,designed by artistIda Van Bladel,with the Miss Levi's logo,for a European campaign,and decided to try it in the USA,so they had a small run of theposters printedusing the American Levi's batwing logo.They never came to collect the posters,so theprinter kept them,giving a few out to friends over the years,and keeping them in his San Jose hobby shophe later opened in the80s,where a collector eventually found them and bought all that survived.Ida van Bladel, who worked for the advertising agency Young and Rubicam Benelux, designed this innovative and "scandalous" poster for Levi-Strauss Europe in 1971.Jeans normally cover the skin,but graphic designer Ida van Bladel has overturned this concept.The only fabric he used was the small label sewn together with the back pocket. The poster reflected the rebellion and the desire for freedom of the young people of the 60s-70s and has become a cult image for that generation, but its charm is still timeless today.
