This is a lovely lot of two (2) antique/vintage Chinese hand-carved natural soapstone chop seals. Each decorative square pillar is surmounted by a beautifully detailed Foo Dog (Chinese Guardian Lion), a traditional symbol of protection, power, and good fortune.
The lot consists of two distinct, complementary pieces:
1. One larger variegated brownish-red soapstone seal featuring a seated guardian lion looking backward over its shoulder. The base features beautifully carved relief characters (Zhuwen style) showing remnant traces of traditional red ink paste.
2. One smaller, slender dark brown soapstone seal with a miniature foo dog finial, featuring a sharp, geometric incised stamp pattern on the base.
CONDITION REPORT:
Both seals are in good antique/vintage condition with a smooth, aged tactile patina. They show minor edge wear, tiny flea bite chips along the crisp base margins, and authentic natural inclusions inherent to the stone material. No major structural breaks or restorations.
