• One retains its original brass finish with age-appropriate patina.
• One has been painted green.
• One has had the shackle cut and is no longer capable of functioning as a lock.

(1) B&D Railroad Lock

Included in the collection is a padlock stamped "B&D RR," indicating it was manufactured for use by a railroad. During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, railroads relied on specialized padlocks to secure freight cars, depots, switches, tool houses, and maintenance equipment. These locks were built to withstand constant outdoor exposure and heavy daily service, making them some of the most durable padlocks produced during the era.
