“True Blue,” the third album by Madonna—a superstar who had achieved global

success and reached the pinnacle of her career—marked her creative shift as

she sought to solidify her status as a more serious artist. Released in June 1986,

it topped the charts for five consecutive weeks, and all five singles from the

album became consecutive hits. With over 25 million copies sold worldwide, it

became the best-selling album by a female artist of the 1980s. This 40th

Anniversary Edition features all tracks from the album on CD 1 as “Anniversary

Edition Remixes,” presented in a 2026 remaster with high-fidelity, master-quality

sound. This constitutes an alternate album with a different arrangement from the

conventional extended mixes. CD 2, titled “Alternates and Rarities,” is a

collection of rare tracks not included on the original album. It features three live

tracks from the historic 1985 “Live Aid” event, as well as single edits, rare

unreleased tracks, demos, and alternate mixes of four songs from her follow-up

soundtrack album, *Who’s That Girl*. As a commemorative 40th-anniversary

edition of *True Blue*—often hailed as Madonna’s greatest masterpiece of the
