Handsome and iconic Scandinavian Modern Scissor loungechair designed by Folke Ohlsson for Dux. It is in wonderful vintage condition.The wood frame has been restored; however, there may still be small signs ofage. We did have to fill some rather deep flaws in the wood. The straps havebeen replaced with appropriate new straps. And the foam cushions are new andnewly upholstered. Please see photos. Circa 1950s.

It is soincredible in its simplicity and when viewed from the side you can seeimmediately where it got its name. We are very excited about this wonderfulchair here at our shop. Its walnut frame has been completely restored and wehave replaced all the straps, which were beyond repair, with proper strapping.Plus, we have made new foam cushions and upholstered them in a fabulous blackand taupe horizontal stripe fabric.
Folke Ohlsson is a Scandinavian modern Swedish furnituredesigner who was born in 1919, raised, and educated in Sweden. But in 1953Ohlsson moved to the United States and established Dux, Inc. an American iterationor namesake of the Scandinavian furniture industry’s largest manufacturer ofupholstered furniture. This creation of an American company producingScandinavian furniture may be for what Folke Ohlsson is best remembered. Wellthat and the invention/introduction of knock-down furniture which is still usedtoday by the likes of Ikea! Ohlsson headquarter the company in San Franciscofor three years before moving it to Burlingame, California in 1956. Over theyears other great designers i.e. Bruno Mathsson and Edward J Wormley diddesigns for the company but it was the designs of Folke Ohlsson’s armchair andsofas that were prized for their traditional details and modernist simplicitynot to mention formal recognition and awards. Folke Ohlsson passed on October23, 2002.
