The Hestra Raggwool Mittens are designed and cut specifically for men. They feature a tailored men's fit suited for broader hands, though women can wear them as a unisex option.
The Gender Difference (Cut vs. Size)
Even though a size 9 equals a 9-inch palm for both men and women, the mitten pattern (the cut) still differs:
- Men's Cut / Unisex: Wider palm box, thicker finger knuckles, and a broader wrist opening.
- Women's Cut: Narrower palm, longer and more tapered fingers, and a slimmer wrist profile.
A woman with a 9-inch palm measurement can wear a Men's/Unisex Size 9, but the fingers and palm may feel slightly loose or bulky compared to a Women's Size 9.

Measure the circumference of your hand with a tape measureor a string and a ruler. To determine your mitten size, measure thecircumference of your dominant hand's palm. Wrap a flexible measuring tapearound your knuckles while keeping your fingers in a natural position—neitherstretched wide open nor clenched into a tight fist. This measurement, taken ininches or centimeters, will correspond to the size chart.
