Description:This listing is for a Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) Class L-5 1-B-B-1 Electric Locomotive.The locomotive was obtained from a closed "brick & mortar" hobby shop. The hobby shop would purchase locomotives and other items from its customers. Visually the locomotive falls into the "Fair" condition. This is due to the paint and decal job that someone in the past applied. Needless to say, it wasn't completed by a professional. See close-up photos to see the "paint issues". If this brass model hadn't been painted and left in its original brass state, than this loco would have easily been given a "C-6 Very Good" to possibly a "C-7 Excellent" overall condition rating. But the paint and decal job pull it down a few notches (lol). It's an easy fix for the modelers out there who know how to strip brass paint jobs. Lastly, there appears to be a loose "internal metal weight" inside the main brass shell. Not a big deal. But it needs to be disclosed.
VERY IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:We did perform a short / non-track testing of the locomotive motor. The short test showed that the motor is functional and the wheels turned with no problem at all (...both forward and backward). The wheels ran quite well in both directions. As far as testing, that is all we do. That said, this locomotive was produced quite a while ago and might need some "oil lubrication" and "cleaning" in order to reach peak running performance. PleaseDO NOT BUYif you are not comfortable with this disclaimer or you do not know how to lubricate and clean brass locomotives.
