This is a real deal original Muncie M-20 4 speed transmission. I don't have any history on this tranmission but it looks to be in good used condition and shifts through all forward gears and reverse. This transmisison would be a good choice for a variety of applications. Please confirm your specific application.
This transmission has a main case casting number of 3885010 as shown. The 3885010 case was used on Muncie transmission from later 1966-1967. The assembly stamp is P7C09 as shown. The date decodes as March 9th, 1967. The tailhousing is casting number 3857584. The side cover is casting number 3884685. The front bearing retainer is casting number 3915020. The input shaft has no grooves in it which signifies this is a M20 wide ratio transmission.This transmission looks to be in good used condition as shown. I see no breaks or repairs to this transmission. All mounting ears are in good shape with no breaks, welds, or other damage. All threads are in good usable condition with no helicoils or thread inserts. This is simply an awesome factory high performance transmission to rebuild for your special car or collection. .
I removed the side cover from the transmission to inspect the internals. The internals of this transmission look nice with no rust or pitting. The gear teeth are all in great shape with no chips or other damage. I am selling this transmission as a core for rebuilding. That said, many hot rodders would replace some seals and small parts and attempt running this as it is. This is a very nice Muncie M20 4 speed transmission that deserves to be rebuilt and used. .
