Manufacturer and first appearance

San-ei has produced official Nintendo plush since 2002, beginning with a Super Mario Sunshine set. Little Buddy has been the authorized North American importer of San-ei Nintendo plush since about 2010. Ninji first appeared in a video game in 1987 in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic (Famicom Disk System, Japan).

Ninji first appeared in the Super Mario series in 1988 in Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES), serving Wart in the dream world of Subcon. The character later returned in Super Mario World (1990), several Paper Mario titles, Super Mario Run, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and as a playable character in Super Mario Party Jamboree (2024).
