WWII U.S. M3 Shoulder Holster – Enger Kress, Likely 1944, U.S. Marked

Offered here is an original WWII-era U.S. M3 leather shoulder holster, manufactured by Enger Kress.

Highlights:

  • Full leather construction with a contoured holster body and thumb-break style snap closure at the top
  • \"U.S.\" stamped on the front of the holster
  • Faint \"U.S.\" marking also visible above the maker\'s stamp on the back corner (see close-up photos)
  • Maker\'s stamp: Enger Kress — date is worn/illegible, but based on known production this example likely dates to 1944
  • Adjustable leather shoulder strap with metal buckle for sizing/fit — the buckle appears to have been replaced by a past owner, differing slightly from the original hardware
  • Correct trigger guard cutout at the base of the holster body
  • Rich, deeply worn brown leather patina throughout, consistent with genuine, extensive period use

Historical Background:
The M3 shoulder holster was issued to and used by the U.S. military during WWII, primarily for tank crews and aircrew, whose confined seated positions made a hip holster impractical. Its convenient shoulder-carry design also made it popular among paratroopers and infantry.

Condition:
This holster is very worn from years of genuine use, showing heavy patina, staining, and softened/aged leather throughout. The date stamp is no longer legible due to wear, though the piece is consistent with a likely 1944 production date. The strap buckle has likely been replaced at some point by a past owner; all other components remain functional. The front \"U.S.\" stamp and the fainter \"U.S.\" mark near the maker\'s stamp on the back are both present. Please review all photos closely, as they best represent true condition.

A great piece for the WWII U.S. militaria collector, tanker/armor specialist, or aircrew equipment enthusiast looking for a maker-marked, well-used example.
