Description: Up for sale is a beautiful, matching pair of solid coin silver tablespoons (serving spoons) manufactured by the prestigious Whiting Manufacturing Company. Dating from the late 1860s to the mid-1870s, these spoons showcase exceptional post-Civil War American craftsmanship and feature a classic double-swell fiddle handle design. Each spoon is clearly stamped on the reverse with the Whiting corporate logo (a sitting lion holding a "W" shield) alongside the vertical "COIN" purity mark, guaranteeing they are solid .900 silver. Additionally, both pieces bear the rare regional retailer stamp of "T.R.J. AYERS & SONS", a luxury jewelry establishment that operated in Keokuk, Iowa. The handles feature an elegant, crisp 19th-century intertwined script monogram reading "SPB" (or "PSB").
