Pair of Antique French Ornate Brass Pricket Candlesticks Gothic Revival c. 1900.

Pair of decorative French brass pricket candlesticks, distinguished by elaborate repoussé and relief decoration with stylized floral and foliate motifs.

Each candlestick has a tall architectural profile, with a faceted stem enriched with continuous botanical ornament, a broad drip pan with scalloped edge, and a central spike designed to hold a candle. The lower section is particularly decorative, with embossed floral panels, openwork details and four projecting feet providing a stable base.

The combination of Gothic-inspired architecture, stylized foliage and richly worked brass is characteristic of historicist decorative arts produced around the turn of the 20th century. These pieces would work particularly well in an antique, ecclesiastical-inspired or Gothic Revival interior.

Condition

Good antique condition with surface wear, small marks, oxidation and variations in patina consistent with age and use. The brass retains an attractive combination of golden and darker copper-toned areas that accentuate the relief decoration. No other significant defects were observed.

Chaque pique-cierge présente une silhouette élancée et architecturée. Le fût facetté est orné sur toute sa hauteur d\'un décor végétal, tandis que la partie supérieure comporte une large bobèche aux contours découpés et un pique central destiné à recevoir la bougie. La base, particulièrement travaillée, associe panneaux à décor floral, éléments ajourés et quatre pieds saillants assurant une bonne stabilité.

L\'architecture de l\'ensemble, les ornements végétaux stylisés et le travail abondant du laiton s\'inscrivent dans le goût historiciste de la fin du XIXe et du début du XXe siècle, avec une nette influence néogothique. Une paire décorative adaptée aussi bien à une collection d\'objets anciens qu\'à un intérieur de caractère, néogothique ou d\'inspiration ecclésiastique.
