Found hidden away in a box of miscellaneous broken jewelry with other odds and ends was this unique pair of antique 18th century brass shoe buckles .Estimated to be from the Mid-Georgian / Colonial Era c. 1740-1770, this is a rare find. Usually pairs of shoe buckles of this age have long been broken and separated, or at the very least, heavily damaged.Each buckle measures almost 2\" x 2.25\" and retains what appears to be the original center steel wire.There are a few areas of light verdis colored corrosion in the intersection of the center bar and surrounding frame. Also some rust can be seen on the center wires.
