Up for sale is an Authentic, Vintage Navajo Regional Rug in the Classic Ganado Red Style, measuring approximately 44" x 27" (3.7 ft x 2.3 ft.)
Weaving made from highest quality Navajo Churro Wool. Style is Ganado, regional design. 100% Sheep's wool.
Mid- 20th Century. (1940's - 1980's.)
This stunning textile features a double-stacked stepped diamond / lozenge central motif flanked by beautiful geometric “railroad track” accents, framed within a deep charcoal border. It is beautifully hand-loomed from natural, hand-spun wool showing great color variegation.
Authenticity Hallmarks:
-Side selvage cords woven directly into vertical edges.
-Original hand-bundled corner tassels
-Completely hand-carved, native sheep wool with distinct texturing.
The warp (the structural base threads) and the weft (the colored design threads visible on the surface) are both hand-spun or hand-carded from wool. Rich red, deep black, and bright white elements are created by natural and synthetic dyes over wool. While the variegated gray sections are typically made by carding together natural white and black sheep fibers.
