R.E.M. - Lifes Rich Pageant LP 12" Vinyl Record - NEW For Sale

Lifes Rich Pageant is the fourth studio album by American alternative rock band R.E.M., originally released in 1986 on I.R.S. Records . Recorded at John Mellencamp's Belmont Mall Studios in Indiana with producer Don Gehman, the album was a deliberate departure from the murky, atmospheric sound of its predecessor, Fables of the Reconstruction . The result was R.E.M.'s most forceful and accessible record to that point, emphasizing the rhythm section and bringing Michael Stipe's increasingly political lyrics to the forefront . The album was a commercial breakthrough, becoming the band's first to achieve Gold certification and reaching No. 21 on the Billboard 200—their highest chart position at the time . Featuring the singles "Fall On Me" and a cover of "Superman," the album is now regarded by many critics as one of R.E.M.'s finest works from the 1980s .

This 2016 reissue is part of the prestigious "Back To Black" audiophile vinyl series . The album is notable for its quirky tracklisting, with the two sides humorously labeled "Dinner Side" and "Supper Side" . The original packaging is faithfully reproduced, and two songs—"Underneath The Bunker" and the cover of "Superman"—were left unlisted on the sleeve, a classic R.E.M. quirk . Pressed on 180-gram vinyl, this edition delivers a high-quality listening experience of this landmark album .
