Seller: Alley-Antiques DESCRIPTION:Staffordshire Transferware. Fabulous rare plate from the \"Scriptural Series\"; by Enoch Wood & Sons. This is a hard to find series made in England for the American market. This view is called Flight into Egypt. Marked on back with an impressed WOOD. This dates to the 1820s. Circa 1825. Vivid dark blue color. This is a very hard to find series. Marked with the impressed Wood. The central scene is of Mary with baby Jesus on a Donkey being led by Joseph. In the vignettes on the rim have a cross and a book. Beautiful plate from a very scarce series. Antique. Around 200 years old. Very good condition for age. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Nice and clean with little wear. Typical in-the-making imperfection like stilt marks, transfer skips, sand grit loss in the glaze may be noticed. Beautiful very hard to find example. Measures about 10 1/8\". Collectible antique plate from a very scarce series. Price is for one plate as pictured. Pictures considered part of the description.
