Beautiful and Rare vintage 1953 fine-art print by French landscape artist Alexandre Louis Jacob (1876–1972), published by Frost & Reed Ltd. Printed in England.
This atmospheric French landscape depicts a peaceful waterside scene with an old cottage/mill, tall trees, marsh grasses, reflective water, and a small boat beneath a dramatic autumn sky.
The lower margin bears a faint handwritten/printed inscription that appears to read:
“L’Automne”
“Vieux moulin, bords de la Somme”
which translates approximately to “Autumn — Old Mill, Banks of the Somme.”
The artwork is signed “A. Jacob” in the lower right of the image. This is a printed signature.
The print also bears the important © F & R mark and the inscription “Copyright 1953 Frost & Reed Ltd.” Frost & Reed was an established British fine-art publisher and dealer.
Alexandre Louis Jacob was a French landscape painter known for atmospheric scenes of rivers, marshes, villages and the French countryside. His original paintings have appeared through major sale houses.

Frame & Condition
The print is presented in a handsome vintage gilt wood frame with a traditional antique-style finish.
Because of its age, there is some age-related discoloration/foxing and fading, visible particularly in the margins and under the glass. The frame also shows expected age-related wear, scratches and losses to the finish. Please carefully review all photographs, as they are considered part of the description.
The print is being sold as-found in its vintage frame.
