RARE Vintage 1940 Cronin Pottery - ZEPHYR 'Hollywood' Ensemble, Full Newspaper Ad Ephemera - Fiesta® Like Pottery FUN!
There are very few of these that even exist, let alone become available to own. Part of my personal collection, I've decided to make this one available for it's next home. Perfect as the ultimate addition to your Cronin Zephyr - or vintage 1930s/1940s color dinnerware collection - This Zephyr line was definitely mimicked to look like the ever popular Homer Laughlin Fiesta® line.
I have never personally seen reproductions available of this ad, this original ad is super scarce and rarely come up for sale. By my own count and experience, there are less than a handful of these in existence with most residing in experienced collector's homes. This type of newspaper ads as one of the most desirable pieces of ephemera to have in your collection whether you are a Cronin Zephyr collector or a color dinnerware collector, this is the perfect addition to your collection.

Condition: Very Good vintage condition - it's a newspaper and wasn't supposed to last beyond a few days in 1940 and is now 80+ years old. Whole page is very good overall...no issues beyond typical aging that old newspapers always have. It's been under a loose plastic wrap and stored flat since I've owned it (approx. 25 years now). Cronin China Company History: In 1926, Daniel Conin and his brothers operated the Chelsea China Company of New Cumberland, West Virginia. They would go on to purchase the Owen China Company in Minerva, Ohio in 1934. After some remodeling, Owen China was renamed Cronin China and began production in November 1936. Simultaneously, the New Cumberland, WV plant was closed.Cronin China specialized in semi-vitreous dinnerware and kitchenware. They also produced some specialty ware such as salad nappies, children's dishes, and open stock pitchers. The pottery closed in 1956.Cronin China's response to Homer Laughlin's Fiesta was the Zephyr shape which was made in solid colors and decals. The solid color version was always unmarked which can cause some confusion with new HLC color-ware collectors. Zephyr in colored glazes was often sold in ensemble sets under different names such as Rainbow, Hollywood, and Mardi Gras. Colors include turquoise, green, dark blue, maroon, tangerine, beige, yellow, medium blue, and pink.
