Item Description:
Up for sale/sale is a beautiful, 100% original 1960s Horikawa "Machine Robot" (Gear Robot) made in Japan. This classic vintage tin and plastic space toy features a black finish, clear chest plate revealing red and green internal gears, and the iconic dual red-tipped antennas.
Condition Details:
Cosmetics: Excellent vintage condition. The body shows very minimal shelf wear or light scratches consistent with age. No major dents or deep rust. Both original red antenna tips are fully intact. The clear plastic chest plate is remarkably clean, bright, but does have a crack as most of these do. Also , a few of the body tabs are bent.
Battery Compartment: Incredibly clean and pristine. Unlike most vintage toys, this one has absolutely NO battery acid corrosion, rust, or crusty buildup on the copper terminals. The original paper graphical lining indicating battery orientation is fully intact and crisp.
Mechanism Bottom: The feet and underside mechanism wheels appear structurally intact and complete.
Operational Status: UNTESTED. This robot is being sold as-is, exactly as found. I have not loaded batteries or attempted to power it up, so functionality (walking, gear spinning, lights) cannot be guaranteed.
Because of how exceptionally clean the battery box and exterior are, this is an absolute prime candidate for a collector looking for a high-quality display piece or a rewarding restoration project. Please review all high-resolution photos carefully to judge the exact cosmetic condition for yourself.
