Horse blanket sizes are primarily measured by the length of the horse from the center of the chest (the wither) to the tail. This measurement is typically taken in inches or centimeters.
To get an accurate measurement, you start at the base of the neck where it meets the shoulder and run a soft measuring tape along the side of the horse's body, following the curve of the ribs, all the way back to the center of the tail.
While length is the primary size indicator, many blankets also include a "drop" measurement, which refers to how far the blanket hangs down from the horse's belly. Some specialized blankets may also require a chest measurement to ensure the garment fits snugly around the front without restricting movement.
