Rare 1940s Dewees Cochran Priscilla Bushnell Latex Composition Doll Effanbee Era:
$349.99

Vintage 1948 Priscilla Bushnell Character Doll, produced during the period of Bushnell’s collaboration with renowned American doll artist Dewees Cochran. This 16-inch latex character doll appears to be the Pinky model, one of the three Character Dolls pictured and documented in Ann Leis’ reference book Dewees Cochran: The Artist and Her Dolls.
She has beautiful painted blue eyes, delicately painted brows and lashes, painted lips, and a human-hair wig with bangs. Her distinctive molded character face, chunky flat torso, jointed shoulders and hips, and characteristic hand/arm construction correspond with the documented 1948 Priscilla Bushnell Character Dolls.
She is dressed in a charming vintage aqua-and-white gingham jumper with white blouse, vintage socks and black shoes. Clothing looks to be original to the doll. Socks and shoes are replaced.
The doll displays age-related wear consistent with an approximately 78-year-old latex doll. There are areas of finish/paint loss, as shown clearly in the photographs. Please examine all photographs closely, as they are an important part of the condition description.
One arm was detached when acquired due to the internal attachment hardware being absent. I replaced the missing internal hook and successfully reattached the arm. No cosmetic restoration was performed; the doll retains the age-related wear and finish loss shown in the photographs.
Her human-hair wig remains quite full and attractive, with the original-style stitching/construction visible at the crown.
For identification reference, I have included a photograph of page 240 from Ann Leis’ Dewees Cochran: The Artist and Her Dolls, which documents the 1948 Priscilla Bushnell Character Dolls—Corky, Pinky and Cookie. The reference photograph identifies Pinky as the center doll in the green dress.
A scarce early American latex character doll and an appealing example for a Dewees Cochran/Priscilla Bushnell or American artist-doll collection.
Please review all photographs for exact condition and feel free to ask any questions before purchasing. Sold as is.
