Very interesting original photograph of an African American man, Jim Johnson, with his horse in front of the blacksmith shop at Hickman, KY in 1911. Notice the metal worker with hammer and horseshoe on his right, and the second blacksmith, also African American, bending over to work on another horseshoe. You can look up the history of Hickman, Ky and I don’t want to comment on that, but notice the look of the man on Johnson’s far right!
Image is roughly 6x7 on cardboard with period writing on the back. It includes “Jim Johnson” three times, some ghost writing from a letter that was written on top of this image, and “Pullen Electric Studio Hickman KY 1911”
Images like this, particularly with identified African Americans, are EXTREMELY rare and highly collectible. Do not miss it!
