Up for sale is an exceptional, highly collectible pair of authentic mid-century modernist architectural cufflinks by the legendary Mexican master silversmith Antonio Pineda. Hand-wrought in Taxco, Mexico, during the height of the mid-century studio art movement, these cufflinks are prime examples of Pineda\'s brilliant use of geometric mass and negative space.
Antonio Pineda is universally recognized as one of the most prominent figures in 20th-century Mexican silver design. His works are highly prized by collectors worldwide and are featured in major museums, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
Design & Construction:
This striking pair features Pineda\'s signature tension-bracket methodology. A perfectly spherical, deep blue gemstone (highly indicative of premium Lapis Lazuli or Sodalite) is captured in mid-air, suspended securely inside a heavy, brutalist U-shaped architectural framework. The structural silver bars wrap cleanly around the stone, allowing it to \"float\" dynamically within the design.

• Purity Mark: Stamped 970 inside the toggle arm joint. Pineda famously rejected the standard 925 sterling alloy, insisting on a premium, higher-grade 97% pure silver alloy (.970) to give his pieces their characteristic deep luster and heavy density.
