Rare Vintage signed D. Rhudy Pair of Wooden Checkered Turned Candlesticks 8.5\" For Sale

Crafted by Darrell Rhudy (1930–2010s), a well-known, highly skilled American artisan woodturner based out of North Carolina. The date 2/86 beside his signature marks their completion date.
While Rhudy is most recognized for his organic, ultra-thin-walled spalted maple and burl wood vessels, these candlestick holders are rare and exceptional examples of his early geometric work. He achieved this striking diamond-harlequin pattern using a meticulous multi-step laminating technique, gluing together staggered blocks of contrasting light and dark premium hardwoods before carefully mounting the block onto a lathe to give them their elegant, curved silhouettes.
Wood used is likely American Walnut (dark) and Wild Cherry or Native Maple (light)
