Vintage Pelikan 100N “Danzig” / Gdańsk Production Fountain Pen – Wartime CN Nib – RestoredFor your consideration is a very attractive and unusual wartime-era Pelikan 100N in green marbled celluloid, fitted with the distinctive single-band Danzig/Gdańsk-production cap and diamond-ended clip.This example has several desirable early/wartime characteristics, including the early stepped grip section, vivid translucent green ink chamber, two-chick Pelikan cap logo with silver-colored infill, and an original CN chromium-nickel steel nib. Pelikan introduced CN nibs during the wartime period when precious-metal restrictions affected German pen production.The piston has been serviced with a new seal and the pen is fully operational. It fills strongly and holds ink as it should.The CN nib is a very pleasant writer with noticeably more character than a modern firm steel nib. It writes approximately 0.5 mm with a light hand, around 0.7 mm in normal writing, and can reach approximately 1.9 mm with moderate pressure, as shown in the writing sample. The tipping has been polished but still retains some raspy response due to wear. The ink window is especially attractive on this example. It remains remarkably transparent and bright green, allowing the ink level and piston mechanism to be clearly seen.Condition: Very good vintage condition overall. The green marbled barrel retains excellent color and chatoyance. The black components remain glossy. There is normal age-related surface wear and some plating loss/brassing to the clip, which I have deliberately not aggressively polished away. The single cap band remains present. Cap logo is crisp and particularly attractive and has unusual silvery infill as opposed to standard green.Please note that one fin is missing from the underside of the feed, visible in the close-up photographs. This has not interfered with filling, ink flow, or writing during my testing, but it is disclosed clearly for collectors.The nib shows normal vintage use and writes well.
