Somewhere along the way, somebody looked at Ronald McDonald and thought, You know what this needs? Pop art, commentary on American consumerism, Swarovski, and a wristwatch.
And Ron English said hold my fries.
This is the Ron English x Swarovski MC Supersized Watch, created for Toy Tokyo\'s 20th Anniversary and released as part of its artist watch collection at New York Comic Con in 2021. Because apparently a normal commemorative watch wasn\'t going to cut it when you could instead wear a deeply unsettling, extremely well-fed clown on your wrist.
Honestly, fair.
The design features English\'s MC Supersized character, his gloriously warped take on fast-food culture, complete with red hair, enormous grin and a strap that appears to have escaped directly from a McDonald\'s french fry carton.
The watch remains NEW and sealed inside its original packaging, so I\'m not opening this bad boy to investigate. The black Toy Tokyo 20th Anniversary presentation box is still wrapped, complete with its NY Comic-Con Exclusive Oct. 7–10, 2021 sticker and original CB1002 identification label on the back.
And apparently keeping it sealed was a pretty decent decision because Toy Tokyo confirms that only 1,000 of these were produced. TOY TOKYO
The packaging even says COLLECT ALL 4, because collecting designer toys wasn\'t enough. Toy Tokyo needed everyone collecting watches now too.
Capitalism has become self-aware.
There is some wrinkling/looseness to the exterior plastic wrapping and minor storage wear visible through it, exactly as photographed. Otherwise this thing has just been sitting there for years, sealed inside its fancy black box, presumably judging our dietary choices.
