Succeeded his father Robert the Bruce of Bannockburn and Braveheart fame, at the age of five in 1329, reigning until 1371. Much of his reign was troubled by losses in battle against the French and English, being held hostage and levying high taxes to pay his ransom. Died childless, ending the rule of the House of Bruce.
