Overview: Up for sale is a striking color lithograph of Salvador Dalí’s (1904-1989) “Desert Jewel,” also known as “Desert Watch,” from his 1976 Time Suite. This piece depicts a fantastical golden figure incorporating watches and jewel-like details, overlooking a seated shepherd and his dog in an expansive desert landscape. It has an intriguing, dreamlike quality like many of Dali\'s other pieces. Dalí, an absolute master, and perhaps my favorite artist, is one of the foremost figures of Surrealism, and is celebrated for his imaginative transformations of familiar objects and explorations of time and perception. Pencil-signed in the margin at lower right and designated “E.A.” (artist\'s proof) at lower left. Framed in a gold-tone frame with a wide mauve velvet mat and gold inner border. Purchased from a local art dealer who closed his gallery.
Condition: Print is in very good condition. Small area of surface abrasion as pictured. Matting shows a couple of dings. Frame shows scratching consistent with age. Frame does not include glass.
Measurements:Print measures approximately 29.5 inches high x 20.5 inches wide (sight). Frame measures approximately 37 inches high x 28.25 inches wide.
