A wonderful collection for the artist or reader in your life! This set of five Chinese lobed offering dishes, sauce dishes, or spoon rests are exquisitely hand painted with figures engaged in traditional scholarly activities. Likely Qing Dynasty, they are painted with exquisite linework, including with what appears to be a single-hair brush for the delicate outlines. They include three matching ladies who are holding what appears to be a book or painting behind their backs (What secrets are they hiding?), one reclining lady contemplating the landscape, and a charming gentleman reclining with a book.These are lobed dishes with flat bottoms for stability. Their rims have the remnants of gilding.Dimensions
