Signed by Cal Tech Founder NOCTES AMBROSIANAE By PROFESSOR WILSON 4 Vols 1855-56 For Sale

This is a beautiful 4 volume 3/4 leather set on the works of Professor wilson. The set was owned and is inscribed on the front end paper by James A.B. Scherer. Scherer was the President of Throop Polytech Institute from 1908-1920. It became was renamed Cal Tech in 1921. Scherer is responsible for the foundations of Cal tech as well as bringing Robert Millikan on board. The set is a really beautiful set but the front board is detached from volume 4.Tha bindings are 3/4 leather with decorated page ends matching the boards.Nice provenance and the books a re in good shape except for the cover on volume 4 which seems odd given the condition of the other books. It could be fixed easy enough.Spines look nice with gilding in tact so they display nice on the shelf. The Cal Tech founder provenance makes it a nice collectible.See photos for condition.
