The 5th SFG was the tip of the spear for MACV-SOG, CIDG (Civilian Irregular Defense Group), and other deep operations. They trained and fought alongside Montagnards, ARVN Rangers, Cambodian forces, and Laotian irregulars. 🟩 SFOD B-51 – Operational Detachment Bravo 51🔰 What is SFOD-B? An Operational Detachment Bravo (SFOD-B) is a company-level command and support element. Each B-team supports multiple A-teams (SFOD-As) in a region.
