Up for sale is a genuine, highly collectible antique Bicycle No. 808 Rider Back tuck box manufactured by the United States Playing Card Company.
The Antique Box (The Star of the Listing):
* Origin: Cincinnati, Ohio (Pre-Erlanger move).
* Tax Stamp: Features a genuine 1-Pack Class A US Internal Revenue blue paper tax stamp a fixed over the top flap.
* Hand-Cancel Date: The stamp is clearly overprinted/hand-stamped with the exact historical verification date of May 1, 1923 (5-1-1923).
* Condition: The structural condition for its 100+ year age is fair. The cardboard is firm, with minimal crush wear, but has a tear on each side on the back side of the box. (see pictures). The red ink graphics remain exceptionally vibrant, with some discoloration (unknown possibilities stains) in various areas. The tax stamp is naturally torn down the center crease from original opening, but the date and text remain fully legible. Perfect for a collector looking to house an \"orphan\" 1920s deck.The Playing Cards:* UPDATE FROM ORIGINAL POST: I have learned the playing cards are legitimate Safety Back cards that were manufactured in 1924. My grandfather played a lot of cards and I am guessing this deck, handed down to him from his parents, got put in the wrong box over the years of regular card playing.* What you get: These 1924 cards feature a faux-distressed \" canvas/weathered\" background and modern tracking codes on the Ace of Spades (1-F1 -11 -7.8). The back design does not match the accompanying box, but is a less common design from that era.
*The Cards: Excellent condition but the 2♡ has a small portion of the left corner missing (see picture).
