Up for sale is a rare, antique vintage 1939 Snap-on 1/2" Drive Reversible Ratchet, Model 71-M. This classic piece of American tool history features the early "flat handle" design and is stamped with the historic Hummel patent number 1,854,513 (issued in 1932).

The gear face is clearly stamped with the iconic vintage warning text: "SEALED RATCHET - DO NOT IMMERSE IN FLUIDS - REPLACE WORN PARTS."

Condition:

This ratchet is in good vintage tool condition, especially considering it is nearly 90 years old! The chrome body shows a beautiful natural patina, honest workbench wear, and some light surface oxidation on the non-plated gear face block, which adds great character. The selector switch clicks back and forth smoothly, and the ratcheting mechanism catches and operates as it should.
