Beautiful vintage black velvet formal evening handbag, believed to date from approximately the 1940s–1950s.
The purse has a structured frame with a black velvet exterior and matching velvet-covered handle. The clasp is especially pretty, with an oval floral center featuring a pink rose and green leaves surrounded by decorative silver-tone detailing.
The interior is lined in champagne-colored satin and includes the original matching small satin coin purse with metal kiss-lock closure.
Approximate measurements are shown in the photos. The handbag body is roughly 8 inches tall, with an overall height of approximately 11 inches including the handle.
Condition is good vintage condition. The black velvet retains its pile without obvious large worn or bald areas. There is some surface lint/dust and minor age-related handling wear. Interior satin remains intact with light age-related wrinkling and discoloration. Metal hardware shows normal age wear. I have not aggressively cleaned the velvet or metal.
No maker label has been found, so the manufacturer is unknown.
