Vintage 1940\'s Western belt buckle by historic Robbins Co. (Attleboro, Mass.), featuring a highly detailed raised-relief portrait of a Native American chief surrounded by Western imagery including teepees, mountains, horses, crossed arrows, tomahawks and other motifs.
The reverse is marked“DES. PAT. NO. 153,836.”the detailed design patented by George Thoresen in 1949. The buckle has a wonderfully aged brass/bronze-tone patina with darker coloration in the recessed areas that emphasizes the detailed design.
Measures approximately3 1/4\" wide x 2\" high and accomodates a 11/2\" belt.Please see measurement photos.
Fully intact, original \"hidden tail\" friction-wedge fit system (no missing pieces). Designed for a solid, unpunched 1.5\" leather belt. When worn, the adjustable tail tucks flat behind the main belt strap for a clean look.
Vintage pre-owned condition with surface wear, oxidation/patina and areas of discoloration consistent with age and use. I have left the original aged surface intact rather than polishing it. Buckle hardware is present as shown. Please review all photos closely, as they are part of the description.
A striking piece of mid-century Western Americana and a great collectible buckle for Western, cowboy, ranch or vintage belt-buckle collectors.
