Mrs. Christina Smith Kerr of Buffalo, N. Y., has announced the engagement of her daughter, Miss Florence Marshall Kerr, to Frederick Gwyn Brownell of 31 East Thirty-ninth Street. Miss Kerr is a granddaughter of the late John G. Smith of Buffalo. Mr. Brownell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Simmons Brownell of Yonkers, and a grandson of General James Gwyn, who fought in the Civil War. He is a member of the Faculty of New York University. Mrs. Kerr and her daughter plan to go to Florida soon.to join Mr. and Mrs. Brownell. No date has been set for the wedding.
Graham M. Brownell, a proofreader at The New York Times since 1963, died on Saturday at the age of 45. A freelance cartoonist and portrait artist in his spare time, Mr. Brownell was found dead at his apartment, 33 West 75th Street. The cause of death was not known. He is survived by his father, Frederick G. Brownell of Grosse Point Park, Mich.
