Up for sale is a gorgeous, authentic Rookwood Pottery covered jar (Shape #7002), originally designed by the legendary Rookwood artist Kataro Shirayamadani. Manufactured in 1949, this piece perfectly bridges the gap between classic Arts & Crafts organic design and sleek Mid-Century Modern aesthetics.The lid features a beautifully sculpted frog sitting atop a stylized leaf or lily pad. The base features a complementary scalloped, organic rim texture. The glaze is a handsome, smooth blend of teal and grey tones that accentuates the details of the mold wonderfully.The bottom is fully marked with the iconic Rookwood flame logo, the Roman numerals "XLIX" designating the 1949 production year, and the shape number "7002".
