Vintage 1950s West Virginia Mountaineers Felt Football Pennant For Sale

This vintage 1950s West Virginia Mountaineers felt football pennant is a wonderful piece of mid-century collegiate sports memorabilia with a classic old-school design. The pennant is made of dark blue felt with a yellow border along the back edge and two yellow ties attached for hanging or securing the pennant. The design features a football scene with a central yellow and orange football player running with the ball, his arm extended outward, with three additional yellow football players running behind him. The word “MOUNTAINEERS” appears in smaller yellow lettering beside the main player, positioned diagonally along the direction of the design. Across the remainder of the pennant is “WEST VIRGINIA” in large, bold yellow lettering. The pennant measures approximately 2 feet 4 1/2 inches long. The pointed end has some slight fraying and wear, and the felt itself has the expected signs of age and use. It is definitely a delicate, well-worn vintage piece with some dustiness, fading, and general wear consistent with its age. The felt should be handled carefully, particularly around the worn and frayed areas. Despite its age and delicate condition, this pennant would make a great wall display for a West Virginia Mountaineers fan, longtime supporter, spirited alumni, or collector of vintage collegiate sports memorabilia. Its classic felt construction and mid-century football artwork give it a wonderful nostalgic look that is very different from modern team merchandise. Item is pre-owned/used and shows visible signs of age, wear, dustiness, fading, and some fraying. Due to its age and delicate condition, please handle with care.
