What a great looking watch this is! The Seikomatic line was a higher grade watch than the Sportsmatic, this watch would be on the same level as the LordMatic that will be introduced 3 years later.
This watch was made in August of 1965. It is in fantastic condition for its age.
The case is EGP, Seiko\'s code for electronically gold-plated, generally at 20 microns thickness. The plating is in excellent condition. There is light wear through and brassing on the lug tips, also the bezel edge is wearing through to the underlying steel. Please review the high resolution photos for details. I\'m very picky about flaws in my descriptions, but the watch presents very well on the wrist.
The crystal is clear and free of chips, cracks, and creasing. It appears to be a new OEM type replacement.
The dial is in excellent condition. Under 10x magnification you can see a bit of speckling on the dial, but it is minimal and adds a bit of vintage character. Dial print is crisp and clear. The tall post indexes, hands and other applied elements are bright and shiny. Overall dial condition 9/10.
The watch is powered by a gilt 6206 caliber, a robust automatic movement having 26 Ruby jewels, rotor self winding day/date complication, and Diashock shock protection. It has just been serviced by my watchmaker and is running well and keeping good time.
The watch is mated to a new, good quality leather strap as shown.
This is a beautiful 1960s Seiko that would be a great addition to any vintage collection.
