Up for sale is a highly sought-after vintage 1970s Mattel VertiBird Airborne Rescue Mission helicopter set (Model No. 9780). This unit has been TESTED with D-cell batteries and the internal motor works! Mechanical Condition:
- MOTOR WORKS: The base motor engages, and the helicopter rotors spin up beautifully.
- CONTROLS WORK: The dual flight control hand throttle levers successfully actuate the mechanical linkages and wire arm.
- SPRING NOTE: The pitch/lift spring on the helicopter head is loose from age, causing the chopper to drop/sag. It will need a minor adjustment or spring replacement for perfect sustained flight.
- The battery compartment is exceptionally clean with no visible corrosion.INCLUDES:
