You are looking at a high quality Electro Voice RE-11 cardioid dynamic microphone made in 1986 as shown on the serial number and made in Buchanan, Michigan. It comes with the E.V 312 model mic clip and cable shown.
The RE-11 was a high quality studio mic sold for several years that was part of the RE-10, RE-11, RE-15 & RE-16 family. These are still very popular and desirable mics that are excellent for vocals such as broadcasting and singing.
Pic # 2 shows the characteristics and original price on these RE series mics. These were (and still are) high quality mics that are even today commonly sought after. Pretty much bullet proof as well.
The RE10, RE11, RE15 & RE16 all utilized the exact same metal body but each came with a slightly different screen / globe and each had slightly different frequency ranges. The RE11 had a larger globe with pop filter to muffle a bit more of the unwanted \"pops\" you\'d get from singing close into the mic.
It should be noted that all RE-11\'s of this age have bad inner foam pop filters that need to be replaced as they fall apart and get gummy from age. They can actually clog the element itself if they are in bad enough shape. If you plan on buying an RE-11 or PL-11 make sure that they have been professionally replaced otherwise the sound characteristics will suffer. I have replaced both the top and bottom filters so that this mic will be good to use for another 40 to 50 years.
This microphone has been thoroughly cleaned and tested. The signal strength is 100% and sounds excellent...set at 150 OHMS which is Medium to Low Impedance but has an adjustable bass drop off switch as seen in pic # 8 so that you can get more or less warmth in the tone from this mic depending on your personal needs. It has a beautiful, rich tone on the lower setting and is excellent for broadcasting and singing. A superb microphone all around. The chrome mesh screen is nice too with no discoloration, odor and no deformation. The pastel green handle has very lite wear with just a couple very small scuff mark and scratches. No dents or fractures and the E.V label is completely legible.
The mic takes a standard XLR cable which is included which is appx 15 feet long. It\'s soft, pliable and in excellent condition. There\'s two quality XLR connectors.
The XLR pins were cleaned on this mic for a perfect signal once the cable is attached. The RE-11 does come with the nice E.V 312 modelmic clip as well that works great for this microphone giving the user a wide degree of tilt up and down as needed. It grips the mic firmly. The mic clip will screw onto any desk or floor stand.
Overall the mic is physically a very conservative 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. It\'s one of the nicest I have seen at this age.
