Vintage 1989 US Navy APH-6 Flight Helmet/VF-143 Pukin Dogs F-14 Signed INCUBAS For Sale

Up for sale is an incredible crossover piece of military aviation history and rock-and-roll memorabilia. This genuine, vintage U.S. Navy Gentex APH-6 dual-visor flight helmet was recovered during a surplus closet cleanup at NAS Oceana squadronparaloft when I was with the world-famous fighter squadron VF-143 "Pukin' Dogs" during the peak of the iconic Grumman F-14 Tomcat era.HISTORICAL PROVENANCE & INCUBUS BAND SIGNATURES:• BAND SIGNED (INCUBUS): The front visor housing features authentic, hand-signed signatures from members of the multi-platinum alternative rock band INCUBUS. • THE STORY: These signatures were obtained firsthand on September 24, 2002. While in Virginia Beach for their massive "Morning View World Tour" (co-headlining with Thirty Seconds to Mars) at the local amphitheater, members of Incubus visited the VF-143 hangar bay at NAS Oceana to tour the F-14 Tomcats the day before the concert and signed this helmet in the hanger bay while viewing a squadron F-14 and giving out tickets to their concert.• REAR MARKINGS: The back of the white fiberglass shell features the word "MULL," which is visible as the distinctive glue residue pattern from its original operational adhesive sticker labeling. FEATURES & CONDITION SUMMARY:• SHELL: Original white molded fiberglass shell with standard operational scuffs, minor scratches, and authentic squadron wear. No structural cracks.• VISORS & HOUSING: Complete, fully functional dual-visor track assembly with "ramshorn" style central cross-knob lock mechanism. This helmet features BOTH the clear visor and the dark tinted sun visor fully intact and installed within the housing.• LINER & COMFORT PADS: The internal main black leather energy-absorbing crown pad remains remarkably clean, supple, and structurally sound. • IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTE: As is standard for 1980s military life support gear, the internal brown/black polyurethane sizing foam layers located behind the green canvas suspension straps have rotted and degraded (visible in photos). The helmet will shed tiny foam crumbs during shipping and handling. Sold strictly as a historical, static display piece.• AVIONICS: Integrated factory communications wiring loom, ear cups, and external tracking blocks. The communication wire sleeve is marked with Contract Code DLA400-89-C-0028 and Mil-Spec M22442/14-1.
