Folks, I bought this at an estate sale in Carthage, Missouri. It was actually the estate of Lowell Davis, local artist, from his first homeplace, Red Oak.... a very cool place with many unique and awesome hand-crafted items.
This was on an old shelf in the back of a barn. I knew what it was used for when I saw it, sissy bar, but other than that, I don't know anything about it. There was a mud daubers nest on the side of it, but I washed it off. The eyes on the skull are red glass and it appears they would light up if wired. One of the four screws on back is missing and there was another mud dauber nest inside which I broke up and threw away.
It measures 27 3/4" long and has an outside diameter spread of 13 3/4" at the bottom of the "forks" and an inside spread of 11 7/8". The chrome pipe is 1". The only mark I found on the back looks like a 7, perhaps a 1... photo #13. The four wires are green, yellow, black and white..... I have no way to test it. It weighs 5 pounds 8 ounces and has original patina. For shipping, please give physical address, no po boxes. Thanks.
....Deck your ride with this monster piece, it may be the only like it out there.....
