Vintage ACI Rodi (Rhodes) Enamel Automobile Club Badge
Original vintage Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) Rodi enamel automobile badge dating to the Kingdom of Italy era.
This beautifully executed badge features the royal crown of the House of Savoy above the ACI emblem with the crowned eagle bearing the Savoy shield over a cogwheel and fasces, all finished in vivid red, white, blue, and gold enamel.
Unlike most ACI badges representing Italian provinces, this example is marked RODI, referring to Rhodes (Rodi) in the Italian Dodecanese, making it a scarce and historically significant colonial-era badge.
A wonderful piece of Italian automobilia, pre-war history, and enamel craftsmanship.
Condition
Very good vintage condition with bright original enamel, crisp detail, and attractive age-related patina to the brass reverse. Light surface wear from age and use. Please review all photographs carefully as they form part of the 2.4 inches (60 mm) tall.
Why It Matters
Following the Italo-Turkish War in 1912, Italy governed Rhodes and the Dodecanese Islands until the end of World War II. During this period, Italian civic institutions—including the Automobile Club d'Italia—established local branches. Original ACI badges from Rodi were produced in much smaller numbers than those from mainland Italian provinces, making surviving examples highly desirable among collectors of automobilia, Italian colonial history, and pre-war European enamel badges.
