Lovely vintage 1930’s - 1940’ soft velvet midi dress. Feels like silk or rayon velvet- it’s really silky. Can be worn day to night, it’s a beautiful piece.
Custom made by a seamstress, no labels. Unlined, metal snaps up the side bodice. Slips over the head, no closures oat the top. (Though it’s a split neckline) Has a waistline on the back with wide thread loops at sides but no belt. Has a foldover collar, pudgy gathered sleeves, 4 velvet covered buttons on the cuffs.
No size label, estimated to fit a size M- for reference, my dress form is an XS and dress is loose in the bodice & waist.
Across chest: 19.5” (x2)
Shoulders: 16.5”
Across waist: @17” (x2)
Across hips: @20”
Length, high shoulder to hem: @47”
Excellent vintage condition for a piece this age with no major issues to note. No odors, looks very clean. I see a side seam that has a repair. I would suggest wearing this gently- not to put stress on seams. Overall, presents beautifully!
