A small farmyard standoff is frozen in porcelain here: a determined white goose stands its ground while a young boy scrambles up the rustic fence. The humor is all in the pose, from the boy’s cautious lean to the goose’s bold presence below. It is an especially lively Hummel scene that works beautifully in a farmyard grouping or as a standalone curio-shelf piece.
This is M.I. Hummel by Goebel’s “Barnyard Hero,” HUM 195/2/0, hand-painted porcelain. The impressed model number and Goebel stylized-bee W. Germany mark identify it as an early TMK-3 example, produced approximately 1960–1963. The original design dates to 1948; that design date should not be confused with this individual figurine’s production date.
